More about this guide
The strip runs from the roundabout near Jan Thiel all the way to the dive site at the end of the road. Along the way you pass Gone Caribe, one of the more established spots on the strip with solid lunch plates and a covered terrace. Funky Friet serves the best loaded fries on this side of the island — the queue after 1pm tells you everything. For coffee before or after the beach, Bo Kofi is the local answer to the chain café — small, good, and genuinely made with care.
Midway through the strip the road opens up to bay views. This is where you find the more chilled beach-bar energy — cold drinks, grilled fish, the kind of place where two hours disappears without noticing. At the very end, Tugboat Bar sits above the famous Tugboat wreck dive site. It is worth going to the end of the road just to sit there with a drink and watch the divers come up.
Caracasbaai also works as a full-day food loop. Start with coffee at Bo Kofi, swim at Jan Thiel or Caracasbaai beach itself, graze the strip for lunch, and finish with a sundowner at Tugboat. The road is short enough to walk sections of it, which makes the eating feel earned.
