7 sitios · actualizado 27 de mayo de 2026
Willemstad is the colourful capital of Curacao — a UNESCO World Heritage city split across Punda and Otrobanda by the Sint Annabaai channel. Beyond the famous pastel facades, the city is home to some of the island's most exciting eating, from the iconic floating market to truki pans and hidden tokos.

On the Punda side, the floating market along the waterfront is the most theatrical food experience on the island — Venezuelan traders sell fresh fruit, vegetables and fish directly from their boats every morning. Van Gogh Grab & Go on Breedestraat and Joen Terras nearby represent the cafe and snack side of Punda, while Baruch Sabor Urbano on Schout Bij Nacht Doormanweg brings creative local flavours to the historic centre.
Cross the Koningin Emmabrug swing bridge and you are in Otrobanda, a rougher-edged neighbourhood with some of Willemstad's most loyal snekkies. Toasted Buns on Hanchi Di Vi Coco draws a lunchtime crowd for grilled sandwiches. irie sandwich on Erieweg is a local institution. Basilá Café on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard is the place for a proper sit-down meal with Antillean and international touches.
Deep in the wider Willemstad area, Juniors Pizza on Dr. M. J. Hugenholtzweg has built a serious following for its honest, generous portions. Helmi Smeulders - Caribbean Chef on Djonoramarthaweg is a respected catering name that also does take-away. Touch of Taste Culinary on Lyraweg rounds out the creative cooking scene.
Willemstad rewards walking — the two historic neighbourhoods are compact. Most food action happens at lunch. Come back at sunset for the Otrobanda bar scene, which runs later than anywhere else on the island.
