Beach bars on Bonaire — cold drinks, warm water

5 spots · updated May 26, 2026

Bonaire is a west-facing island, which means its beaches look directly out over the Caribbean Sea towards the setting sun. The beach bar scene reflects this — relaxed, unhurried, built for long afternoons rather than quick stops. Whether you're a diver surfacing for a cold Presidente, a kiter done for the day, or a visitor who just wants to sit in the shade with their feet in the sand, Bonaire has a spot for you.

When
Afternoon from around 14:00 onwards. Sunset hour (17:00-18:30) is peak time for the waterfront bars in Kralendijk. East coast bars are best earlier in the day when the wind is up.

More about this guide

Along the main boulevard in Kralendijk, several waterfront spots have terraces right on the water. King Kong Bonaire at Bachelor's Beach is one of the most popular — consistently well-reviewed, great for food and drinks in a beach setting with more than 200 reviews backing it up. Pureocean Beachside Bar further north on Julio A. Abraham Boulevard occupies a quiet stretch of coast ideal for a mid-afternoon stop.

For a more immersive beach bar experience, head out to the east coast. Te Amo Beach and Lac Cai Beach on the Kaminda Sorobon road are two of the island's most striking settings — sheltered lagoon water, flat sandy shoreline, and an informal atmosphere that can stretch a drink into an afternoon. The Hang Out Beachbar and Sorobon Reef Bar are established spots near the kite beach, used by both water sports visitors and locals alike.

At sunset, the waterfront in Kralendijk comes alive. The stretch from the harbour to Biña and Seaside Krioyo Fusion is the place to be between 5pm and 7pm — tables fill up, the sky turns orange, and the whole island seems to slow down for an hour.

One practical note: Bonaire's beach bars tend to be small, informal, and cash-friendly. Hours can be unpredictable. Check the Snekkie listing before making a dedicated trip.
