Chalet Suisse – A Tale of Two Visits We dined at Chalet Suisse twice during our stay, and the difference between a midweek and weekend visit was striking. On a Wednesday night, the restaurant was quieter and the service was impeccable—attentive, polished, and exactly what you expect from an established fine-dining institution. I ordered the lollipop lamb chops, which were absolutely outstanding—perfectly cooked, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. My wife had the beef stroganoff, which was rich, comforting, and very well prepared. Our Friday night visit told a different story. The restaurant was extremely busy, and while the food quality remained solid, the service clearly suffered under the volume. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and notably, desserts were never mentioned or described, which felt like a missed opportunity given the restaurant’s reputation for classic European dining. That said, we would absolutely return—but with a clear preference. Chalet Suisse truly shines when it’s not overcrowded. For the best experience, I’d strongly recommend going midweek rather than on a Friday night, when the restaurant can deliver the level of service it’s clearly capable of. Verdict: Excellent food, classic atmosphere, and top-tier service when timing is right. Choose your night wisely.
